The position

We are seeking a full-time laser cutting operator. Experience with running enclosed CO2 or fiber laser cutters is a plus, but we will train the right person who has good computer and math skills, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail. Duties will include running several laser cutters at once and working with other laser cutting operators to complete jobs on time.

Summary

• This is a full-time position for on-site work at our Las Vegas location. Work hours are daytime, Monday-Friday.

• Duties include day-to-day laser cutting, including:
  • Cutting customer parts from plastic, wood, rubber, metals, etc. using enclosed CO2 and fiber laser cutters
  • Processing internal cut orders for manufacturing and engineering departments
  • Scheduling jobs on several machines
  • Laying out parts in CorelDRAW and other programs
  • Checking parts for quality and accuracy
  • Packaging and shipping parts
  • Recording machine settings and job notes in custom software
  • Constant communication and coordination with others in the department
  • Monitoring stock levels for materials and consumables
  • Maintaining equipment, assisting with repairs as needed
  • Organizing and cleaning the laser cutting area of the warehouse
  • Assisting other departments as needed

Requirements

• Solid computer skills: can operate a Windows PC, type at least 50 words per minute, comfortable learning new software
• Strong math skills (shop math)
• Able to use a tape measure in both metric and inches/feet
• High mechanical aptitude
• Competence with basic hand tools
• Coordinated, with good fine motor skills and dexterity
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to multitask (able to run several machines at once)
• Organized, with good time management
• Ability to work alone and in a team
• Motivated self-starter
• Problem solver
• Quick learner
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds occasionally
• Reliable attendance and transportation
• Cheerful, can-do attitude, strong work ethic
• Ability to do repetitive tasks for long hours without losing concentration
• Ability to stand for long hours
• Fluent in English

Other desired (but not required) skills and experience

• Experience with enclosed CO2 or fiber laser cutters or similar machines
• Experience with laser cutting metals
• Experience with TurboCAD, CorelDRAW, other CAD, Illustrator, and Photoshop
• Basic woodworking skills
• Experience with packaging fragile items
