Zumo Robot for Arduino
The Zumo robot for Arduino includes the basic mechanical parts and electronics to build an Arduino-controlled robot. It combines a Zumo chassis with a Zumo shield, which includes a dual motor driver, buzzer, and three-axis accelerometer and compass (and v1.2 adds a three-axis gyro), to make an Arduino-controllable robot that can really throw its weight around! An Arduino-compatible controller is not included, and this version does not have as many integrated sensors as the Zumo 32U4 robot or the Zumo 2040 robot.

The Zumo robot for Arduino is an Arduino-controllable tracked robot platform that is less than 10 cm × 10 cm—small enough to qualify for Mini Sumo. It includes two micro metal gearmotors coupled to a pair of silicone tracks, a stainless steel bulldozer-style blade, an array of six infrared reflectance sensors for line following or edge detection, a buzzer for simple sounds and music, and a 3-axis accelerometer, magnetometer, and gyro for detecting impacts and tracking orientation. Just add 4 AA batteries and an Arduino (or compatible controller) and you are ready to push! No soldering or assembly is required.

This kit contains most of the parts you need to build an Arduino-controlled Zumo robot. It consists of a Zumo Shield for Arduino, a Zumo chassis kit, and a Zumo blade. You will also need a pair of micro metal gearmotors, four AA batteries, and an A-Star 32U4 Prime or Arduino to complete your Zumo robot (motors, batteries, and Arduino sold separately). This product is a kit; assembly (including soldering) is required.

This shield makes it easy to build an Arduino-controlled Zumo robot. The shield mounts onto an assembled Zumo chassis, connecting directly to the chassis’s battery terminals and motors, and the Arduino plugs into the shield, face down. This shield includes dual motor drivers, a buzzer for playing simple sounds and music, a user pushbutton, and a 3-axis accelerometer, compass, and gyroscope. The shield boosts the battery voltage to power the Arduino, and it breaks out the Arduino I/O lines, reset button, and user LED for convenient access and to accommodate additional sensors for things like obstacle and edge detection.

This reflectance sensor module is designed for use with the Zumo shield for Arduino. It has six IR LED/phototransistor pairs that can be used for line following or edge detection; each sensor provides an independent, digital I/O-measurable output. The array draws approximately 40 mA when the emitters are on, and an optional input allows the emitters to be turned off for additional sensing or power-saving options.
